Saturday, March 8th is International Women's Day, a day to celebrate the economic, political and social achievements of women. One woman who has been an inspiration for women in Afghanistan is Massouda Jalal, who ran for the nation's highest office in its first presidential election in October 2004. Although Jalal attracted enthusiastic and widespread support, Afghanistan's current President Hamid Karzai ultimately defeated her. Now a new documentary film called "Frontrunner" is re-examining Massouda Jalal's presidential run. As VOA's George Dwyer reports the film is offering viewers some important insights, about personal courage and political transformation. Jim Bertel narrates.
