Randy是一个男孩子名子，Randy is consoling his friend by the name of Steve. by the name of 称为，就＝called, 名叫什么的人，I met a man yesterday by the name of Smith. consoling在这边＝comfort 安慰，comfort　当名词代表“舒适”，当动词代表“安慰”，comfort，I enjoy the comfort of this drawing room. 客厅很舒适叫我好舒服。 My father comforted me after I failed the race. My father comforted me after I lost the race. 他被他女朋友甩了，dump, His girlfriend dumped him. (or) He was dumped by his girlfriend. 垃圾 garbage, Don't forget dumped the garbage. 垃圾堆　garbage dump, “把人甩掉”也可以用ditch 臭水沟，He was ditched by his girlfriend. R: Come on, Steve. OK.Well,you can see it on page nine here,dialogue,but it is also spelled dialog,so there are two spellings for this word,这个字有两种拼法，dialogue, 也有人说 dialog ,　the pronunciation especially is the same,发音是完全相同的，conversation 指的未必是两上人呢，三个人啦，五个人之间的会话，都可以用 conversation 表示，or sometime just one person. Peter, I sometimes I hear you talk to yourself.我听到你在自言自语，有时候也可以用一个人，用conversation 表示，我们这样说，刚才彼德Peter自言自语，这句话呢是暗示Peter is going to be sent to a kind of hospital,所谓的 funny farm,就是很滑稽的农场，不！在这里是另外的含义，就是“疯人院”， especially adv. 特别, 尤其，相当地 hospital 医院 conversation 会话，交谈， probably 或许 dialog 两个人之间的对话 交流，沟通 mental asylun 疯人院 crazy 疯狂的， Are you crazy? How is he doing? How's he getting along? getting along 有时候碰到很久没有见面的朋友，还可以说：How are you? 或是， How have you been? 通常在外国，在美国，走路的时候，美国朋友怎么会讲“四川话”呢，他们常常讲，Howdy,刚好是四川话，“好的，好不好啊？”好呀，我们去呀， 是美语南部的说法，Howdy,If you go to Texas or other southern states in the United Stats,Many people will greet you with howdy. Hoewdy 原来讲是的英文，可不是四川话，是说的美国的南部，包括德克萨斯州，你会看到人们会很亲切地和你打招呼，Hoewdy，这个时候呢，当然了，你也会回答说，Hoewdy.　你就不要说，Fink,thank you.因为那是How do you do?的回答。 如果对方讲，How do you do? 你也可以回答，How do you do?这样下去， 讲How do you do?的时候是第一次见面，就不能讲Fine,than you. 如果我们熟了，第两次见面了，我们才会说Fine,than you. 如果我们熟了,我们会说How are you?How are you doing?
