lesson 1 Finding fossil man first listen and then answer the following question: why are legends handed down by story tellers are useful? we can read of things that happened 5000 years ago in the Near East,where people first learned to write.but there are some parts of the world where even now people can not write.the only way that they can preserve their history is to recount it as sagas-legends handed down from one generation of story tellers to another.These legends are useful because they can tell us something about migrations of people who lived long ago.but none could write down what they did.anthropologists wondered where the remote ancestors of the Polynesian people now living in Pacific islands came from.The sagas of these people explain that some of them came from Indonesia about 2000 years ago. But the first people who were like ourselves lived so long ago even their sagas,if they had any,are forgotten.so archaeologists have neither history nor legends to help them to find out there the first mordon man came from. Fortunately,however, ancient man made tools of stone,especially flint,because this is easier to shape than other kinds.they may also have used wood,and skins.but these are rotten away.stone does not decay,so the tools of long ago have remained when even the bones of the man who made them have disppeared without trace.

其实我以前也不知道的，呵呵。

东田版的其实是北外出的，文件比较大，带FLASH，先是读课文，然后讲解单词和主要句子；薛冰的其实是新东方的教学录像（应该是，可以听出提问学生的声音），我拿到的是较早的四册版本，第五课还是gorilla!他是每课先讲单词，然后课文。比之东田单词讲的多，课文讲的较细致，但是没有课文朗读（包括整篇课文FLASH显示）。

我个人觉得如果是学习，新东方的更适合。当然了，新东方的老师有的声音比较那个，呵呵，刚开始怕不习惯，但是听一段就OK了。如有可能，配合东田就更好了。

你如果都没有接触过，我这里有东田的全部和新东方的三四册，我给你传一份样本你可以做个对比。然后自己做决定。
