Though weather in America ranges from below zero most of the year in Alaska, to burning hot in Texas, California is generally considered the state with the best weather in America. It is famous for its sunny, pleasant summer and long golden beaches. Santa Monica is a city in Southern California well-known for its long wooden pier and excellent surfing waves!

Though baseball is the official American national sport, most Americans spend more time watching football (not soccer) and basketball. Guys who are skilled in playing one of these sports are often called "jocks". Don't say that if you meet one though, calling someone a jock can also be an insult inferring that they are idiots!
